Japan extends state of emergency until May 31

Japan's prime minister, Shinzo Abe, extended the state of emergency on Monday (May 4) until May 31 because of the coronavirus, after government officials warned that it was too early to loosen restrictions.

According to Abe, although Japan does not have a large increase in the number of infections, compared to other countries, there has not yet been a drop in the number of new cases. Japan reported about 15.253 thousand cases of coronavirus and 569 deaths until this second.
