This is the 13th death among those whose infections have been confirmed in Japan. Another 10 people were recently confirmed on Sunday with the new coronavirus.
In Hokkaido, which has the highest number of COVID-19 cases, three more people have been confirmed, bringing the total to 101 cases, the government said on Sunday.
And in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture, it was reported that a 50-year-old nurse who works at Medical Corporation's Zenjinkai Nie Hospital was infected. The hospital interrupted outpatient care until the 15th.
In the same municipality, a new case of infection was confirmed in a man aged 80 years in the city of Itami.
Yamanashi Prefecture also announced on March 8 that a 60-year-old man who had been infected was a part-time employee at a match shop (Seven-Eleven), the shop was closed.
On this 8th, Osaka also confirmed the infection of 14 people aged 20 to 60 years.
