Takahama (高 浜 市) is a city located in the southwestern part of the Mikawa Plain, in the province of Aichi, is located almost in the center of Japan and is 25 kilometers southeast of Nagoya city. With a population of 49.217 inhabitants, including about 3.944 foreign citizens, 1.460 of whom are Brazilian.
The village of Takahama was created in the Hekikai district in October of 1.889. It was elevated to village status in July 1.900 and annexed to the neighboring villages of Yoshihama and Takatori in May 1906. Takahama was elevated to city status on 1 December 1970, when the Hekikai district ceased to exist.
