Aichi Ken (Aichi) located in the region of Chubu, on the island of Honshu. It is located in the center of the Japanese archipelago and is bordered by the provinces of Wed, Gifu, Nagano e Shizuoka. The city of Nagoya became Aichi Capital in April 1872. It occupies an area of ​​5164,57km2, being the 27th province in size, corresponding to about 1,4% of the national territory.

Aichi has a population of 7.549.194 inhabitants, including about 281.952 foreign citizens, approximately 62.508 Brazilians, 7.842 Peru, 50.963 Chinese, 41.238 Vietnam, 39.339 Philippines, 31.607 Koreans, 10.536 Nepal and others (data January 2.020).

It is the automobile center of Japan, is located in a strategic point in Aichi, becoming the locomotive of the country's economy.

Aichi concentrates the major automobile industries, the automaker Toyota, Suzuki, Mitsubishi, Daimler Chrysler and Volkswagen. Auto parts factories with distribution to several automakers, as well as ceramic and fabric industries also boost productivity. Because of this, the province was home to the largest Brazilian community from Japan.

In addition to the large industries, Aichi also houses many historical monuments of inestimable value for the Japanese culture, among them the Nagoya castle, built in 1612 at the behest of Ieyasu Tokugawa, and the sanctuary of Atsuta, one of the oldest shrines archipelago and considered the second most sacred in Shinto.

Before the constitutional regime, the city was divided into three distinct independent domains: Owari (district of the river Kisogawa and river Shonaigawa), Mikawa (district of the river Yahagigawa belonging to Nishi-Mikawa) and Ho (district of Toyokawa belonging to Higashi-Mikawa) , but after the Great Taika Reformation (1603th century), they become two domains: Owari and Mikawa, continuing until the Edo era (1868 - XNUMX).

In 1871, after the abolition of the fiefdom system and establishment of the provincial system, Owari (excluding Chita-gun) was renamed Nagoya-ken and Mikawa (including Chita-gun that belonged to Owari) was renamed Nukata- ken. In April 1872, Nagoya-ken province received a new name: Aichi-ken. In that same year, Nukata-ken province is abolished and its administration is transferred to Aichi-ken. After a long history, Owari and Mikawa were unified as Aichi-ken.

The name AICHI is a word that comes from the word (ayuchigata), which is mentioned by the talented poet named Takechino Kurohito in his poem compiled in Manyoshu. In this poem the poet says: The cry of a crane echoes in the domain of Ayuchigata, I wonder if the crane got to catch fish in the tide. Then on to Aichi, giving rise to the name of the jurisdiction of Aichi-gun.

After the abolition of the feudal system, by virtue of the provincial government palace being placed in Nagoya Castle in Aichi-gun, this name was adopted as the name of the province.
